About American Motor Corporation (AMC)

American Motors Corporation, also known as AMC, was an American car manufacturer created by the merger of Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and Hudson Motor Car Company on May 1, 1954. This merger was the largest corporate merger in U.S. history at the time.  AMC's closest competitors were other automakers that had similar annual sales levels, such as Studebaker, Packard, Kaiser Motors, and Willys-Overland. However, their largest competitors were the "Big Three" American car manufacturers: Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler.
