Secret Wars, also known as Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, is a limited series comic book crossover consisting of 12 issues. It was published by Marvel Comics from May 1984 to April 1985. The series was written by Jim Shooter, and the artwork was done by Mike Zeck and Bob Layton. Alongside the comic book series, there was a toy line and a role-playing game from Mattel that shared the same name. The concept for Secret Wars was developed by Jim Shooter, the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics at the time. Initially, the series was announced as Cosmic Champions in the eleventh issue of the Marvel Age news magazine, dated February 1984. However, following feedback from a focus group organized by Mattel, the series was renamed Secret Wars. The decision was based on the positive response children had to the words 'wars' and 'secret'.
