About Black Panther Face Logo
In 1992, Wesley Snipes had plans to develop a Black Panther film, but unfortunately, the project did not materialize. However, in September 2005, Marvel Studios included a Black Panther film on their list of ten movies based on Marvel characters, with the intention of having Paramount Pictures distribute them. In January 2011, Mark Bailey was hired to write the screenplay.
The official announcement for Black Panther came in October 2014, and Chadwick Boseman made his first appearance as the character in Captain America: Civil War (2016). By that time, Joe Robert Cole and Ryan Coogler had joined the project, and additional casting took place in May. Notably, Black Panther marked the first Marvel Studios film to have a Black director and a predominantly Black cast. Principal photography occurred from January to April 2017 at EUE/Screen Gems Studios in the Atlanta metropolitan area, as well as in Busan, South Korea.
