BNI is the abbreviation of Business Network International. It is a business referral company that was launched in 1984. It was formed by Dr. Ivan Misner along with some partners. The purpose of this company was to get more clients. Before naming the company as BNI, it was known as The Network.
The first meeting of The Network was held in 1985 in California. In this year, the company got its first board of directors and they are responsible for making policies of BNI. This meeting was attended by well-known people and in the same year, it was famous across Southern California. The company’s name was changed in 1991.
In 1993, the company started doing business internationally in Ontario. After the successful launching in Canada, the company expanded its business in the UK. After this, BNI opened in New Zealand in 1997. In 1998, the company started doing business in South Africa which was a bigger success. BNI never changed its logo.

In 1998, the company became a huge success almost globally and they started their very own charity and named it as The BNI Foundation. In 2003, the company opened its first headquarters in California. The first mobile application of BNI was launched in 2011 and was named as BNI Connect.
