About Bowie Baysox
The Bowie Baysox, situated in Bowie, Maryland, are a Minor League Baseball team competing in the Eastern League. They serve as the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Their home games take place at Prince George’s Stadium. From 1989 to 1992, the Baltimore Orioles’ Double-A affiliate was located in Hagerstown, Maryland and known as the Suns.
In 1993, when Major League Baseball expanded and introduced two new teams, opportunities arose for bids on two new Triple-A franchises. The Maryland Baseball Limited Partnership, which owned the Suns as well as the Advanced-A Frederick Keys, actively pursued securing one of these new franchises for central Maryland.
