About Coast Guard
The United States Coast Guard a.k.a. USCG is the security, search, and rescue law enforcement service branch of the United Armed Forces. A member of the 8th uniformed services, it is part of the military. Essentially this is a multi-mission, maritime, and military service, the type of service which is unique among the other branches of the armed forces of the United States of America. As well as having authority in domestic, jurisdictional, and international waters, they are also a part of a federal regulatory agency, and carrying out their missions is part of their duty.
It is one of the largest coast guards in the world. It was founded and enacted in 1790 that the United States Coast Guard agency came into existence. In 1915, a modernized coast guard was established and merged with United States Life Saving Service to become the modernized coast guard. There are three roles of U.S. Coast Guard services: maritime stewardship, maritime security, and maritime safety.
Meaning and History
The United States Coast Guard is very impressive. It has a lot of details in it and it changed three times up till now, in the following years:
Evolution of Coast Guard Logo
The designer must have had a really hard time making the Coast Guard logo as it has to show a complete meaning and it has to be attractive as well.
1790
This year, the logo has a badge in the nested circle with two anchor symbols crossing the outline of the circle side by side. It is written in a circular format in the first circle that says ‘United States Coast Guard 1790’.The badge’s first half is of blue color and the second half of the badge has white and red lines.
1815
This year, the logo was very much traditional and modern at the same time. It still had the same anchor symbols in the same position with the same badge and text. But there is additional text above and below the badge. The above text says ‘SEMPER’ and the below text says ‘PARATUS’. All of these symbols, shapes, and texts are in another circle that is shaped like a rope. It has the same badge as before.
1915
This year, what we have today, is very much changed with some similar shapes and texts. Now you can see an eagle standing on a target with two colored lines underlying them and they are diagonally left. All of this is in a nested circle and the first circle has a text that says ‘U.S. Coast Guard * SEARCH AND RESCUE*’ The search and rescue are written between two stars.
Design
We have broken down the three coast guard logos in the following two aspects:
