About Gwinnett Stripers

The Gwinnett Stripers, an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, are a Minor League Baseball team belonging to the International League (IL). Their home games take place at Coolray Field in unincorporated Gwinnett County, Georgia, near Atlanta. The team derives its name from striped bass, which reflects the region's fondness for fishing.

In 2009, the team was established following the relocation of the Richmond Braves, a member of the International League from Richmond, Virginia. Originally known as the Gwinnett Braves, they changed their name to the Gwinnett Stripers in 2018. In 2021, as part of MLB's restructuring of Minor League Baseball, the Stripers transitioned from the IL to the Triple-A East. However, in 2022, the Triple-A East league was renamed the International League.
