It was founded in 1977 by Eric Smidt. It employs 25000 employees that work around the United States. In 2021, the company made a profit of 6.5 billion dollars. The company was started by Eric and his father Allan Smidt. Before Harbor Freight, the company was called Harbor Freight Salvage.

            In this year, the logo had HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS written on top. Under FREIGHT, USA was written and on left right of USA, there are blue large ships facing USA. Below it is a yellow line and below it, the text says ‘America’s Favorite Tool Store’, this text was italicized.

1980

            In this year, the logo is a rectangle with a navy-blue outline and in the rectangle HARBOR FREIGHT is written on top and TOOLS is written below them. The large ships are facing TOOLS.

1985

            In this year, there is a text ‘HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS’ and below it, there is a rectangle and in it, the text says ‘Quality Tools at Ridiculously Low Prices.

1991

In this year, the logo is the same but the text in the rectangle says ‘QUALITY TOOLS LOWEST PRICES’ there is a gap between TOOLS and LOWEST words.
