Kiewit is also known as Kiewit Corporation. It is a private American company located in Omaha, Nebraska. Kiewit is a construction, engineering and mining company. It was founded in 1884 by Kiewit brothers. Its current CEO is Rick Lanoha. As of 2020, the company made a fortune of 10 billion dollars.

Meaning and History of Kiewit Logo
John Kiewit was the father of the two brothers who was an immigrant and learn the art of brickmaking. John established a brickyard in Omaha and both the brothers learned the art of masonry while helping their father grow the business. The business grew well and the company made some of the very famous buildings of that time like the Bekins warehouse and a seven-story Lincoln Hotel. Kiewit never changed its logo.
Evolution of the Kiewit Logo
The brothers dissolved their partnership and Peter Kiewit did business on the basis of sole proprietorship in 1904. In 1912, Peter’s two sons, George and Ralph Kiewit joined the company as partners. In 1913, the company made the famous Omaha Fire Department Hose Company No. 4. Ralph and George took over the company when Peter died in 1914.
Kiewit’s logo has a yellow background and in it, there is a circle in black color with yellow filling. In the black layer of the logo, on the top ‘Kiewit’ is written in yellow color and on the left and right sides of the circle, there two yellow leaves. On the bottom of the black layer, SINCE 1884 is written in yellow. In the yellow-filled part of the circle, PKS is written in black. PKS and Kiewit are capitalized in the circle. Outside on the right side of the circle, Kiewit is written in black color.
Building of Kiewit Logo
Peter’s youngest son Peter Kiewit Jr. joined the company in 1919 and it was Peter Kiewit Jr. who made sure that the firm becomes the largest construction company in Norther America and in the world. In 1931, the company was renamed to Peter Kiewit Sons’ Co and then the firm made a contract with the government to construct and build transportation projects and this was during the Great Depression.
