About Laguna Vaqueros

The Algodoneros de Unión Laguna, also known as the Laguna Union Cotton Farmers, are a professional baseball team based in Torreón, Coahuila, competing in the Mexican League. Established in 1940, the team adopted the name Algodoneros de Unión Laguna, paying homage to their initial sponsor, the Compañía Jabonera la Unión (Union Soap Company). Their first pennant victory came in 1942 under the guidance of manager Martín Dihigo. The franchise temporarily relocated to Nuevo Laredo in 1944, but baseball returned to the region between 1946 and 1953 through an expansion club. In the 1950 season, Laguna secured their second and most recent championship to date, led by manager Guillermo Garibay.
