About Lowell Spinners

The city of Lowell, Massachusetts was once home to the Lowell Spinners, a beloved baseball team. From 1996 to 2020, the Spinners proudly represented the city as members of Minor League Baseball’s New York-Penn League (NYPL). Serving as the Class A Short Season affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, they garnered a loyal fan base. However, with Major League Baseball’s restructuring of the minor leagues following the 2020 season, the Spinners were not chosen to continue their affiliation with the Red Sox.

The team’s history began in 1996 when the Elmira Pioneers relocated to Lowell. Initially, the Spinners played their games at Stoklosa Alumni Field for the 1996 and 1997 seasons. In 1998, they moved to their new home, Edward A. LeLacheur Park, where they played their home games for the remainder of their existence. The ballpark became an iconic symbol for the team and provided a vibrant atmosphere for fans to enjoy the game.
