About Monclova Acereros
The Monclova Steelers, known as Acereros de Monclova in Spanish, are a professional baseball team representing the Mexican League and are based in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico. Their designated home stadium is the Estadio de Béisbol Monclova, which can accommodate up to 11,000 spectators. The establishment of the Acereros came about as a replacement for the Mineros de Coahuila in the 1976 season.
Originally known as the Acereros del Norte, which translates to Steelers of the North, the team made their debut in the Mexican League on March 23, 1974, under the name Mineros de Coahuila (Miners of Coahuila). Their inaugural game took place at “Sports Park Ahmsa” against the Indios de Ciudad Juárez, with Tomás Herrera, nicknamed “Sergeant Shrapnel,” serving as their manager.
