About Norfolk Tides
The Norfolk Tides, a team in Minor League Baseball, compete in the International League as the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Nestled in Norfolk, Virginia, their name pays homage to the city’s coastal location along the Chesapeake Bay.
The Tides proudly call Harbor Park their home stadium, which first opened its gates in 1993. Prior to Harbor Park, the team had stints at High Rock Park in 1961 and 1962, Frank D. Lawrence Stadium from 1961 to 1969, and Met Park from 1970 until the conclusion of the 1992 season.
Originally established as the Portsmouth-Norfolk Tides, the team commenced their baseball journey in 1961 as part of the Class A South Atlantic League. In 1963, they transitioned to the Class A Carolina League and adopted the name “Tidewater Tides,” reflecting their affiliation with the Tidewater region.
