About Peoria Chiefs 

The Peoria Chiefs, based in Peoria, Illinois, are a Minor League Baseball team affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals. They belong to the Midwest League and hold the position of High-A affiliate. Originally known as the Peoria Suns, the team was established in 1983 and took inspiration from the Peoria Indian tribe, which shares the same name as the city. In 2005, the team decided to change its logo and remove any references to indigenous imagery, instead adopting a logo featuring a Dalmatian portrayed as a fire chief. The Chiefs currently play their home games at Dozer Park, which was inaugurated in 2002, having previously played at Vonachen Stadium near Bradley University from 1983 to 2001. Over the years, the Chiefs have had a successful track record, having reached the playoffs on 12 occasions, with 7 wild card berths, 3 first-half titles, and 2 second-half titles.
