About Red Robin
Red Robin is an American chain of casual dining restaurants founded in September 1969. In 1979 the first franchised restaurant opened up with over 570 locations as well 90 being operated by franchisees across various parts on Earth!
In 1969, local Seattle restaurant entrepreneur Gerry Kingen bought the business and expanded it. The first location was 1,200 sq ft (110 m2). It became a favorite hangout for University of Washington students due to its youthful atmosphere that contrasted with other nearby restaurants at this time who were mainly frequented by adults or couples looking for date night hotspots; however, Red Robin didn’t start out like most UW dining spots – instead, they started off as just another bar serving burgers alongside cocktails.
The first Red Robin restaurant was founded in Seattle, Washington at the southern end of University Bridge. This building dates from 1940 and originally served as Sam’s Tavern named after its owner who would often sing “When The Red-Red robin comes bobbin’ along,” which became his favorite song to perform with barbershop quartet regularly scheduled for Thursday nights (hence why this particular menu item is called ‘Thursday Night Football’). He liked it so much that eventually changed the name on purpose because he wanted everyone else singing those lyrics around town to know what they were about!

Red Robin started as Sam’s Tavern in the college party town of Seattle, but it wasn’t until 1949 that they were able to incorporate their own recipes and create this delicious burger joint. The owner loved singing “When the Red Red Robbin Comes Bob Boring Along” so much that he ended up using ‘Red’ as part of his name change from just simply Sam’s–to now being known only by one word “Robin’.
