About Saltillo Saraperos
The Saltillo Serapes, known as Saraperos de Saltillo in Spanish, are a professional baseball team that competes in the Mexican League. Their home stadium is the Estadio de Béisbol Francisco I. Madero, located in Saltillo, Coahuila. The team has achieved notable success, securing three championships in 1980, 2009, and 2010. In addition, the 1979 Saraperos were honored as one of the 100 greatest minor league teams of all time.
The Saraperos joined the Mexican League in 1970 following discussions that took place during a dinner hosted by the members of the Committee for Construction of the Cathedral of Saltillo. Led by President Don Jorge Torres Casso, the committee deliberated on various aspects, including the franchise cost and the acquisition of players.
