About Steam Company

Steam is a video game digital distribution service by Valve. It was launched as a standalone software client in September 2003 as a way for Valve to provide automatic updates for their games and expanded to include games from third-party publishers. The company has been able to grow its user base by providing a wide variety of games, as well as a low price point for games. In addition, the company offers a variety of features to its users, such as cloud saves, achievements, and friends lists. In January 2013, Valve reported Steam had reached 75 million registered accounts, up from 10 million in 2010. In addition, Valve stated that Steam had over 20 million concurrent users on the platform at a time. In February 2014, it was announced that nearly 1 billion accounts have been made on the service. In September 2016, Valve updated its community page to state that the service has 125 million active user accounts, and the peak concurrent user count is at 18.5 million. Most games on Steam are offered digitally through the Steam store; however, there are exceptions such as retail copies that come in boxes that require building an additional non-Steam shortcut installation process to install the game after purchasing it. This is due to several technical reasons including not technically being able to emulate all copy protection DRM schemes used among other things on various downloadable contents (DLC) or expansions packs. Valve offers direct sales of downloadable content for many games on Steam. DLCs are usually offered as an additional incentive for people who have already purchased the base game. Valve has an official policy regarding which DLC should be considered a 'must-have' (called "free game" updates) - these items can be found at Steam Workshop through Greenlight votes or other means.

About Steam Logo

The Steam logo is a wordmark with an emblem in the middle, arranged as shown. The emblem may be used alone, encircled by a circular frame. The connecting rod and crankshaft are one of the most well-known components of a steam engine. These are the elements that convert locomotive heat energy into a mechanical form that powers its wheels.
