About Yoga Journal

Yoga Journal is a magazine related to yoga and exercise. It was founded in 1975. The main goal for starting this magazine was to combine health sciences and yoga. The magazine was started by CYTA also known as California Yoga Teachers Association. The first President was Rama Jyoti Vernon, the founding editor was William Staniger and first copy editor was Judith Lasater.

Before it was a magazine, it was a newsletter which was called ‘The World’. The magazine won the ‘Best Health and Fitness Magazine’ awards of Western Publications Associations Maggie. The magazine was started by unpaid contributors, writers, yoga experts, and volunteers.
