The Monterrey Sultans, known as Sultanes de Monterrey in Spanish, represent a professional baseball team within the Mexican League, situated in Monterrey, Mexico. Competing in the Northern Division, they showcase their skills and talent on the field. Notably, the team possesses a unique distinction as they participated in both the Mexican League and the Mexican Pacific League during the 2019-20 season. This dual participation sets them apart as the sole team to engage in both the summer and winter leagues in Mexico.
Originally established on May 20, 1939, under the name Carta Blanca, which was a local beer brand owned by Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, the team underwent name changes over the years. In 1942, they became known as Industriales and later, in 1948, assumed their current and well-known name, Sultanes. Throughout their history, the team also gained recognition as the Gray Ghosts.
