The Pensacola Blue Wahoos, based in Pensacola, Florida, are a Minor League Baseball team affiliated with the Miami Marlins. They compete in the Southern League as a Double-A team and play their home games at Admiral Fetterman Field. Previously known as the Carolina Mudcats, the team relocated from Zebulon, North Carolina to Pensacola in 2012.
Originating in 1959 as the Charleston White Sox in the South Atlantic League (now the Southern League), the franchise embarked on a series of relocations. It first called Charleston, South Carolina, home from 1959 to 1961 before moving to Savannah, Georgia, in 1962. Subsequently, it found temporary residences in Lynchburg, Virginia, from 1963 to 1965 and Evansville, Indiana, from 1966 to 1968.
Eventually, in 1969, the team settled in Columbus, Georgia, where they played their games at Golden Park. From 1970 to 1988, they were known as the Columbus Astros before affiliating with the Houston Astros.
