About Kannapolis Intimidators

Situated in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers represent a Minor League Baseball team affiliated with the Chicago White Sox. They compete in the Carolina League as a Single-A affiliate. Their home games take place at Atrium Health Ballpark. The team was initially established in 1995 under the name Piedmont Phillies. Subsequently, from 1996 to 2000, they were known as the Piedmont Boll Weevils. Beginning in 2001 and lasting until 2019, they adopted the name Kannapolis Intimidators, paying tribute to Dale Earnhardt, a Kannapolis native and NASCAR driver known as "The Intimidator." Earnhardt had acquired a share of the team before the 2001 season.
