About Salem Keizer Volcanoes
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, situated in Keizer, Oregon, hold the distinction of being one of the founding teams of the Mavericks Independent Baseball League. This league, consisting of four teams, is exclusively based in the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area, and all of the Volcanoes’ home games are played at Volcanoes Stadium.
Prior to their involvement in the Mavericks League, the Volcanoes were members of Minor League Baseball’s Northwest League from 1997 to 2020. During this time, they served as the Class A Short Season affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
However, following the restructuring of baseball after the 2020 season, the Volcanoes were not granted a player development license by any Major League Baseball club. Despite this, the Volcanoes remained committed to continuing their play in 2021 and fulfilled their promise by becoming part of the Mavericks League.
