About West Michigan Whitecaps

Situated in Comstock Park, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids, the West Michigan Whitecaps represent a Minor League Baseball team associated with the Midwest League. They serve as the High-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and proudly compete at LMCU Ballpark, their home venue. The inception of the Midwest League in the Grand Rapids area dates back to 1994 when the former Madison Muskies arrived. It was during this time that local entrepreneurs Lew Chamberlin and Dennis Baxter introduced the Whitecaps to West Michigan. Initially affiliated with the Oakland Athletics, the Whitecaps later joined the farm system of the Detroit Tigers in 1997.
