Bufori: Company Overview
Bufori is a luxury hand-built automotive manufacturing company in Malaysia which was founded in 1986 by the Khouri brothers; Gerry, George, and Anthony. The Khouris have Australian-Lebanese roots. The company is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur. The vehicles have the 1930s American coupe design and Gerry was the one who started building special sports cars in his garage. This led rest of the 2 brothers to join hands and start the company. The production plant was founded in 1998 and sales started mainly for the Malaysian market. The company was able to manufacture only 300 units per annum while employing more than 100 employees. Bufori only manufactured limited number of vehicles per year since each car has to go through 25 step-procedures and the employees use traditional ways of building cars. The body of each car is made up of Kevlar composite material and carbon fiber which makes the body ultra-strong and light-weighted. The best thing about these vehicles is that purchases can get desired customizations and modifications. Since 2003, three models of Bufori MKIII La Joya, MKII, and MKI are displayed at the National Automotive Museum in Sepang International Circuit.
Fun Fact
A single Bufori car can take up to 3000 hours to be built completely.
