Dayun is also known as Dayun Group, Dayun Motor, and Shanxi Dayun Automotive Manufacturing Co LTD. The company was founded in 1987 by Qinshan Yuan and is currently headquartered in Shanxi. The company has now become a conglomerate and other than manufacturing automotive vehicles, the company also deals with real estate development and engine manufacturing. Dayun is famous for producing more than 50,000 trucks per annum. The light-duty trucks of Dayun are sold under the Chengdu Dayun Automotive Co LTD and this division was founded in 2009. Dayun started its EV (Electric Vehicle) divison in 2022. Its first EV was displayed at the 2022 Chengdu Auto Show; the vehicle was named as Yuanhang which means Voyage. In the same year, the company introduced 4 more EVs and its production started in 2023.
