During the Korean War, China was in need of trucks for battlefield and the Ministry of Machinery planned a company in 1955. The company was officially founded in 1969 in a small village that later became the Shiyan City. The village was chosen as a birthplace of the company because there was always a doubt of air raid from Korea. By 1972, the company was able to manufacture 200 automobiles.
