History of Edsel Logos
Edsel never changed its logo.

This is the logo of Edsel. The logo is a 7 nested circle. The first 6 circles are grey with equal white spacing. The last circle has green color fill with a capitalized letter E designed in a customized font type in white color with grey outline. The grey circles with white spaces could represent depth of progression, evolution, outreach of the brand, or could represent growth. We reckoned another theory about what these circles could mean; these could reflect the company’s commitment to orderliness, attention to details, and quality. The green color is associated with innovation and renewal in the automobile industry. There is no official statement by Edsel about any hidden meaning in the logo.
Edsel: Company Overview
Edsel was founded in 1956 by Ford Motor Company and was defunct in 1959. This is the only company which was known for its historical commercial failure. Ford owned Lincolin and it wanted to compete with Cadillac but it was competing with DeSoto, Buick, and Oldsmobile. To address this issue, the company launched Edsel, though it failed but it did well to Lincolin. As Lincolin market grew up and it was even preferred over Cadillac. Edsel was first named as E-Car which means Experimental Car but since E also stood for Edsel and it was Henry Ford II’s name so the company was named as Edsel. The company did an extensive amount of marketing; they launched their car on E-Day and also promoted a dedicated show “The Edsel Show”. Even after such advertisements, people spoke of this car as old-style build and unconventional design.
FACT
Edsel cars had a feature “teletouch” which was a push button transmission. This allowed drivers to change gears with a push of a button. These buttons were placed on steering wheel hub.
