1939
This is the first Facel Vega logo. The logo has a vertical rectangle in dull grey color. The center of the shape has another vertical rectangle which is diagonally divided into two parts; the left part is dull yellow and the right part is black. The center of the second rectangle has a red enlarged letter ‘F’ with grey outline and the small-sized letters of the word Facel and are designed in white. Below it the word Vega designed in the same way in white. The letters ‘F’ and ‘V’ are designed in both sections. Inside the first rectangle, at the top is the word ‘Facel’ and at the bottom is a word ‘Paris’. These two words are designed in black with all uppercase letters using customized Calibri Body Bold font type.
1961
This is the second Facel Vega logo. The logo has a grey color filled circle. The top left side has the word ‘Facel’ and the top right side has the word ‘Vega’. The bottom part of the circle has the word ‘Paris’ and between these three words are 2 sets of stars; each set has 3 black stars. The center of the circle is again divided into two diagonal parts; the left part is dull yellow with the letter ‘F’ designed in the same way and the right part is black having the letter ‘V’ designed in metallic silver. The top left side of the letter ‘F’ is slightly in the black part. This logo is kind of a minimalized version of the 1939 Facel Vega logo with a 2D effect.
Facel Vega: Company Overview
Facel Vega S.A. was a luxury sports car manufacturing company in France which was founded 1939 by Jean Daninos and was closed in 1964. The company was headquartered in Paris. Before producing vehicles, the company pressed steel automobile components. This company was founded as Facel (Forges et Ateliers de Constructions d’Eure-et-Loir), it then joined hands with Metallon and manufactured cabriolets and coupes for Delahaye, Panhard, Ford of France, and Simca and this enabled the company to produce more than 2900 units. These vehicles were unitary bodies and had no chassis which resulted in loss, Metallon left the partnership in 1953, and this put a stop in production. Facel again starting producing its own car and engines from Austin, Volvo, and Chrysler – this gave birth to Vega which was launched in 1954. Facel was handed over to Sud Aviation and it got some success but in 1964, the company had to fully close. Facel was basically a part of Bronzavia which was a military aircraft manufacturer in France. Jean was replaced by Marcel as a director, the founder had returned from the USA after his ex-boss summoned him to work in Facel. During the World War 2, Jean was working with the General Aircraft in USA and this company was using Bronzavia’s aircraft patent. Jean had started his new career with Citroen and he was in-charge of designing Traction cabriolets and coupes. But he directed Facel from 1945.
