History of GAZ Logos
GAZ changed its logo 8 times in the following years and ways.
1932

This is the first GAZ logo. The logo has a silver oval with blue color filling. The center of the oval consists of different letters and elements in silver. The name of the company is designed in Russian letters with two anchors on side and there is a set of letters at the bottom of the oval “NM.MONOTOBA”.
1946

This is the second GAZ logo. The logo looks like letter ‘M’, two concrete towers or pillars standing on a pedestal floor/ground. This shape is designed in grey color with red color filling. The red part has grey lines placed in different places. The center of the red area has numeric ‘20’ designed in white in a bubbly font type. The concept of this logo is a mystery to many till date.
1950

This is the third GAZ logo. The logo has a customized shape of a shield/crest in silver with a red star which represents the symbol of communism and below it is a design of what seems to look like a building in red and below it is a red color filled crest with silver outline. The rest crest has a silver deer facing left. The creature is called the Russian Deer which is a symbol of Nizhny Novgorod. Nizhny Novgorod is the biggest city of Russia and this is founding place of the company.
1956

In this year, the GAZ logo used a royal-looking customized silver crest with red color filling and the deer designed in the same way. The red area has a horizontal separating line and below it is the name of the company designed in silver in Russian letters. On each side of the crest is wings designed metallic grey color. On top of the crest are 4 shapes which look like a crown.
1986

This GAZ logo is designed in 2D but still managed to have a minimalized look. The wings from this logo are gone and the crown shapes are more prominent. The red color has gotten a bit brighter, the deer is now white, and Russian letters are now in English in white and in uppercase letters using customized Bodoni MT Black font type.
1996

This GAZ logo is similar to the 1986 GAZ logo. The logo is designed using a hyper-minimalization design concept which almost looks like that it is a vector image. The silver crest has a black outline, the Russian letters are back, the crown shapes have a small outline at the points, and the red color has a yellowish and orange hue mixing in the center. The rest of the logo remains the same.
1997

In this year, GAZ again chose 2D effect with minimalization combination. The logo is the same like the 1996 GAZ logo – with only color difference. The silver color is now replaced with metallic grey color and the red color is replaced with blue. There is white gradient in the first layer of the crest.
2015

This is the current GAZ logo. The logo consists of a metallic silver and grey deer and it is standing on the name of the company designed with the same color combination. This is the only GAZ logo which has added an eye on the deer’s face.
